As the title says "Creativity Step by Step," Edward De Bono presents the tools for creative thinking and discusses the differences between lateral thinking and vertical thinking, explaining how both can cooperate to make the ideas creative and logical. I recommend this book for those who want to develop a creative thinking in a serious situation, and learn how to relate illogic, as thought at the beginning of presenting the idea, with logic, after the idea is justified in an acceptable explanation.

“Intelligence is like the horsepower of a car while thinking is the driving skills with which individual drives his or her intelligence.”
    --- De Bono
I haven't read the whole book, but i just cant agree more with that.
It is criticized by De Bone that only critical thinking is taught in schools which actually is reactive and adversarial thinking.(Ingamells, 1993) however, what the type of thinking that our society really needs is creative and constructive thinking

It is great book. Read it 19 years ago, it shaped me until now. I am considered the most innovative guy among colleagues. Come with wild ideas. Some good, some bad. Never mind. Just say it.

One I like is connection. You have to connect one thing to another that in usual think you can't see any relation. Once you connect them, you got new horizon of thinking.

Other think is to see if something is happened or doesn't exist. Let's say there's no steel. So you have to replace every steel with any substance: wood, sand, rubber etc. It opens new perspective.

    Great book!

The brief summary of the book could be do not limit your mind, don't assume," for me that’s "creativity in thought." The author, being so prolific, has kept himself current and has made quite a good start, explanining how new ideas could be formed and how the best looking idea may not be the best to pick up.
