A love letter to the guitar, Guitar: An American Life follows guitarist/author Tim Brookes as he has a new acoustic custom built to replace his damaged old favorite. Along the way, he recounts the history of the guitar, from its humble beginnings as a woman's intrument, and one played only in places of disrepute, to its place as the musical intrument that outsells all others combined. Both stories are great, told with passion, insight, and wit.
