I love this book. And not least because it's so unlike a Jacqueline Susann novel. Read it when I was in my impressionable teens, I found it very visual, and it played to (and still does, every time I read it!) my love of what-if scenarios, and meeting the imperfect, perfect alien, Yargo.

Sci-Fi is not my thing and quite a weak book compared to Ms Susann's other books

If this was Susann's first book, then I can see why she failed as an actress. This book was hokey and I got bored mostly. Just like VOTD, she added parts of her own real life into the story. I didn't quite care for this book, but VOTD is still my favorite book of all-time.

Not bad, really... strange for Jacqueline Susann. Not quite up there with Star Trek but still...

one of the funnest sci fi/romance books i've read. we love to ask "if they made this into a movie, who would play the lead characters?"

my mother gave me this book in high school. she was a big j susann fan and didn't care for sci-fi so she handed it off to me because i'm a geek :) i have since lost this copy and another but i can never forget the story. it's strange and different from her other novels if only because of the sci-fi element. what i was to learn later on ( and please correct me if i'm wrong) was that this was actually her first book that had been put away because the editors didn't think it would sell to her readers. i love a good story, especially one that stays with you 25 years.
