Not so good.
I won't be reading any of Esquivel's other works.”
“... i'm loving it so far.
It may not equal her Like Water for Chocolate, but her sensitivity is evident.”
“At times, the book reads more like an encyclopedia entry than a novel.”

It did however make me want to research more about this iconic historic Mexican figure. ”

Yes | No“i was actually disappointed about this novel especially after reading "like water for chocolate" and being a big fan of la malinche. the writing style is nothing like the previous novel. it is so dull and unimaginative in many parts. i'm not sure if it got butchered after the translation or if this is just not one of esquivel's works, but it was boring. ”

It offers a possible insight into the beliefs and motivation of the slave woman who through acting as an interpreter helped to facilitatate the overthrow of Montezuma's empire. The book is rather slow-paced, with words that are concise and beautiful.”
