My favorite of Maeve Binchy's novels. I love the central friendship between Eve and Bennie, the fact that its about young women, but not all about who they will fall in love with. I've probably read this six or seven times and it never fails. Another highlight is the realistic conversations that Binchy lets you "listen in" on and how hilarious/touching/tragic they can be. I've read all her other novels, but none made me want a sequel more than this one.

It seems to be a common storyline in Maeve's books - tragic events in an Irish's woman's life - but each of her books are hard to put down. I have seen this movie before reading the book, but loved the book as well as any other.
