“I like the author's honesty about not claiming to present some sort of guide to dealing with family/spouse issues. Rather he quite clearly explains that his book is meant to tap into grander questions about family life by telling these people's stories and allowing readers to take what they want from them. Admittedly, I enjoyed reading about people's experiences in general since he sets each stage very well. Its like a reality book (as opposed to TV, which I hate).”
“When I first started reading this book, I put it down because I thought that it had a slow start. About a year later, I picked it up again and read it in a night. Very glad I gave it a second chance. Wonderful portrait of how similar families who seem dissimilar can be.”
“What a wonderful book. It just goes to show that family ties run deep into our souls. Though there are a lot of troubles we go through with "these people" that make up our family, there are precious things that come out of these basic relationships. Po Bronsen's collection helps me realize the value of it all.”
