In this book, a lawyer named Stewart Dubinsky discovers evidence of his recently deceased fathers court hearing and imprisonment. Stewart is convinced to try and find out what happened to his father, when it happened and if he was actually a criminal. During the plot, the stories of David Dublin, Stewart's father in war times are played out. It describes all that David Dublin had to go through during this period of his life. In the end, Stewart learns how hard it can be to break orders that mean you will be punnished. Also he discovers the brutalness of war and all that comes from it.
