“This book felt like I was not reading a single book but a collection of novella's in a trillogy. While the story overall was good the way the book was layed out just felt strange. The first portion of the booked bounced the timeline back and forth so much I was occationally baffled as to when what was happening. The second portion of the book and the third however followed a continuous timeline that rarely varied. I much prefered the second and third sections of the book because I always had an idea what year it was.”

However, I found the characterization in this book to be simply unbelievable, as the characters had to do the stupidest action possible, in each situation, in order to move the plot forward. If they had acted like rational humans, the story would not have gone anywhere. On my first try, I didn't even finish the book, which is rare for me. After a year or so, I gave it another try, and did finish it at that point. However, it was not a truly enjoyable experience, and I could not recommend this book to anyone. If you're looking for a good Bova read, pick up "Mars."”
