I bought this book back when it came out, because I had enjoyed Bova's work in the past. However, I found the characterization in this book to be simply unbelievable, as the characters had to do the stupidest action possible, in each situation, in order to move the plot forward. If they had acted like rational humans, the story would not have gone anywhere. On my first try, I didn't even finish the book, which is rare for me. After a year or so, I gave it another try, and did finish...
