Martine is an eleven year old girl living in England. Tragedy strikes when her house catches on fire. She escapes but sadly her parents die in the fire. Martine finds out she has a grandmother living in Africa on a game preserve. Martine moves to Africa and slowly adapts to the change in lifestyle. Soon after arriving she hears the legend of the white giraffe and then surprisingly one night while looking out her bedroom window she actually sees the giraffe. Unknown to Martine her life and the life of the white giraffe is connected through prophecy. This story was captivating. ”

I mostly enjoyed Tendai, because he was super nice, and cared about Martine.
I think that Martine learned the hardest lessons, because she was discovering what her gift really was, and she had to go through lots of hardships.
Ben changed the most, because he was super quiet and never talked at school, until Martine came along. He started talking to her, and they became best friends.
I was surprised that Gwen Thomas turned out to be really nice to Martine, because she didn't show it at first.”
