This is one of the most original first-contact books I have ever read. Really enjoyable, and original.

Being different is difficult. This novel tackles that both ways: The author does a fabulous job of building an alien world with its unique life forms and civilization, and the main character, stranded alone on this world, must survive, despite being very different.

This book got mixed reviews on Amazon, but I really liked it. Yes, the ending could be better, but the author sets up for a sequel, which makes wrapping up all of the loose ends in a manner that satisfies the modern craving for "happily riding into the sunset" a bit difficult.

Science fiction fans who enjoy first contact yarns should find this a decent read, and it is thought provoking, which is one of the main reasons I like SF literature.
