Beth is still stuck as a vampire. She gets shot with an arrow but it misses her heart. She also breaks up with Clayton, believing he was the one behind the attempt to destroy her. Within a short time there's another attempt to kill her.

Kevin tells Beth that Clayton, her supposed boyfriend, is out to kill her, then he kisses her. Meanwhile, Jenny is doing research to help Beth figure out who at their school is a vampire.

There's another attack on Beth, and it's a vampire that tries to kill her. Kevin saves her again, and explains to her that here are two vampire camps; the more modern thinkers and the traditionalists, and they are having a war. The traditionalists want her dead because they don't want her discovering something that would allow vampires to walk in the daytime and act like regular humans.

Some guy named Renault kidnaps Beth. He's a traditionalist. Beth figures out her maker is her Latin teacher, but things don't go well when she confronts him. She's almost killed, he is, and she's now stuck as a vampire.

At the same time, Renault refers to her as the “empress,” bows to her, and leaves. Beth also finds out that her father is not really her father, making matters even more complicated for her.

A good book, I think actually better than the first volume.

Good followup to the first book. Still seems lacking in something.

I love this author! If you loved "A Good Ghouls Gide to Getting Even" Then you'll love this sequel. Beth Fraser just turned her boy friend into a vampire. To save his life of course! And now the only way for him to become human again is to kill her. Jees! She only wanted to be valedictorian not a vampire!
