Jennifer Joyner is a journalist with an emotional addiction to food. Her addiction is so strong that she often eats two McDonald's meals per day, spends a great deal of time alone in the dark because she is ashamed of her 366-pound body, and has been on various diets in order to gain control over her weight. Finally, she opts for taking what she considers the easy way out, and undergoes gastric bypass surgery. While the surgery is initially a success, she suffers complications.
