“Diane is a historian studying alchemy at the Bodleian Library in Oxford. While she is a descendant of a long line of witches, Diane has chosen to not use her magical powers and instead she has reached her lofty academic title due to her hard work and intense studying. Or so she thinks. When a mysterious and handsome vampire appears in the library starts to discuss with Diane the whereabouts of an ancient book she was pulled from the libraries shelves, she starts to realize that not all things are as they appear and her insistence on not using magic might not be something she can control. Matthew, the vampire, convinces Diane that other supernatural beings are out to discover the ancient alchemy book and they will stop at nothing to retrieve it. Together, Diane and Matthew must work together to protect the book and each other.
I was very hesitant on reading this book. I had read some very negative reviews about the storyline and it is by no means a short book. But just a few pages in and I was hooked. Witches, vampires and secret ancient books with hidden words, what's not to love!! Okay, so the romance part isn't really my cup of tea. But for me the other aspects outweighed it and I still enjoyed it immensely. Looking forward to reading the next in the series. ”
