When Brady Miller agreed to come back to Sunshine, Idaho, to work on a helicopter for his best friends (Adam and Dell), he never figured a minor truck accident would change his life - but it did. That's how he met Lilah Young, a feisty lady who'd lived all her life in Sunshine, knew everybody and had several guys attracted to her (but she wasn't interested). The life at the animal clinic/shelter where he agreed to spend only a month was where Lilah did much of her work and met many of the animals she loved. From the first he and Lilah had an attraction to one another, and acted on it - but there was an agreement that no permanent commitment was attached. In the month Brady stayed there, he helped in the clinic, ended up with a dog who had a girl-dog's name, repaired a helicopter for his friends, and had lots of interesting incidents, and lots of sex with Lilah. He learned about her past, she learned a few things about his present - and his boss, Tony, called several times with flying jobs for him - only to be put off. Brady was an orphan with several foster homes behind him. The last one, though, brought him his best friends, Adam and Dell, and many memories he wouldn't let go. Brady's past held a sojourn in the Special Forces and now he was flying for a company who served world-wide wherever his background training would help.

Being often with Lilah showed Brady that she was so different - and eventually he found that she was a big part of his life. When finally, his time in Sunshine ended and he took a job that Tony'd called about, he had to make a big and final decision.

Characters edit see section history

  • Lilah Young: A young lady, one of the main characters, who loved her work but hoping to earn a degree in animal science so she could continue on to vet school. She was part owner of the Sunshine Kennels, in Sunshine, Idaho. Her background included a now deceased but much loved grandmother, an unfinished stint at a university in Las Vegas, and a circle of loving people in her small town - and many of its men, who just wanted her.
  • Brady Miller: A loner with a past that included foster homes, a stint in the army with Special Forces service in war-torn countries like Afghanistan, now flew for hire, wanted no commitments in his life, didn't want to have to be in one place. He was also a photographer, sometimes a paid one.
  • Adam: Like a brother to Brady and Dell. They'd spent two years together and bonded, now were in a business together. Adam worked in Search and Rescue, trained and bred the dogs for the work. Handsome, close friend and protective of Lilah, blood brother to Dell and of Native American decent.
  • Dell: One of the "trio" of "brothers", Dell ran the animal clinic in Belle Haven and was a licensed veterinarian. Dark-eyed, dark-haired, of Native American decent. Protective of Lilah like a brother would be.

  • Jade: Ran the desk at the clinic, dressed as though she was from a magazine shoot.
  • Dee: Clerk at the bakery/grocery store. Nearing forty but still trim and pretty, with an eye to the guys.
  • Tyler: A man from Las Vegas in Lilah's past who'd hurt her.
  • Twinkles: The small brown dog who adopted Brady; it was a male but the name was on his collar and the name stuck, even though it was ridiculous.
