“I really expected so much more from this book after reading all of the praise on it. The author's writing style was just plain difficult to read, and I found myself consulting the dictionary app on my iPhone several times. So not only was the story disjointed, skipping forward and backward in time and from viewpoint to viewpoint in scenes, my reading was also interrupted repeatedly while trying to understand the text.
Aside from all of that, the deathless man and the grandfather's fascination with the tiger are what kept me reading. Although in the end, I'm really not sure what to make of it all. Perhaps the author was intending to show the reader the best and worst in human nature?
So many times I just wanted to put this book down - a definite struggle to finish.”
