The one boy, Sheldon, or say, was wounded when the other boy Pink, came and rescued him. They became great friends. The book tells about their adventures together along with a couple tragic events.
I would read this book to a 4th, 5th or 6th grade class as a read aloud. You could use this book as part of a unit for the war or to teach your class about racism and the power of friendship. This is such an appropriate book and lesson to teach students at this particular age.
