Liked It“I really enjoyed the book, but it was not the smoothest prose. It always amazes me, the frugal person that I am, that people can spend money the way this clan did. I don't think they were highly unusual though. In the end even though they were all rich, they still did not have much family...” see full review » see other reviews » |

“I really enjoyed the book, but it was not the smoothest prose. It always amazes me, the frugal person that I am, that people can spend money the way this clan did. I don't think they were highly unusual though. In the end even though they were all rich, they still did not have much family cohesiveness.”

Lots of family infighting to spice it up! Names and places are familiar to Californians - lots of surprises about the family and their winery. ”

By the end of the book I was thinking too much detail about yet another disagreement. Sad that there was so much discord in the family. ”

Robert Mondavi was the very first winery my wife and I went to in 1970 when we lived in the Bay Area. The history presented in this book is well done and I enjoyed it very much.”

It was an excellent little history lesson, and unbelievable in so many ways, that families can be so dysfunctional. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about the American wine industry...things we have long taken for granted.”

We found it average for discussion at book club although the Mondavi family is fascinating. We talked with Ms. Flynn Siler via telephone and that was very interesting. What a contribution Robert Mondavi made to the wine industry!”
