An insightful and incredibly well written biography of C.S. Lewis' life! I was suprised to hear how difficult his life had been in some regards and amazed that he could write such uplifting children's stories duirng such turmoil. I also felt a deep kinship for Lewis when the author described his love for the enchanted, magical, and fairy. My husband and I enjoyed this as an audio book while doing some long distance driving one summer.

Great book; never realized how "flawed" a hero C.S. was, but also how beloved he was by those who knew him best. I enjoyed seeing his gradual progression toward Christianity, and the role his imagination played in it. Most interesting idea from the book: before his conversion, Lewis tried for a time to surpress his imagination and focus on his rational side, and was miserable doing so. After his conversion to Christianity the familiar and beloved "Lewis" voice emerged. Becoming a Christian sharpened his wits and clarified his writing style, rather than dulling and sentimentalizing it.
