“I had hopes for this book. I really did. From the back of the book, I was expecting a steampunk story where vampires are evil. As I am rather bored and tired of all of the books coming out where there is a vampire that ISN'T evil and falls for a human girl, I was quite excited to read this book.

The first portion of the book was painful to read. I felt I could tell when it switched authors, and the voice, pacing, and general writing was in need of rewriting. As the story went on, the quality of writing improved, and I no longer felt I could tell when the authors switched. However, as the writing was improving, the story let me down.
There was potential for the story. The steampunk/alternate world the authors created had/has great potential and is interesting. It had some originality, but the originality was swallowed by the expected. I'm afraid this isn't a book I'd recommend.”
