  • Lucia Hardscrabble: Pronounced lu CHEE a. Lucia is the middle child & sister to Otto & Max. Lucia is also very candid sometimes people wish otherwise.
  • Otto Hardscrabble: Otto is the eldest sibling at age 13 & also the oddest. He doesn’t speak and is never seen without his scarf. Brother to Lucia & Max. He doesn't talk, choosing instead to use a "sign language" that only he, Lucia, and Max can understand.
  • Max Hardscrabble: Max is the youngest Hardscrabble, most people would call him a know-it-all, and sometimes he is too smart for his own good. Brother to Lucia & Otto.
  • Casper Hardscrabble: Father of Otto, Lucia and Max. Sketches unpopular and disowned royals.
  • Saint George: A man who lives in Snoring by the Sea. He's a taxidermist who looks like a viking.
  • Haddie Piggit: American. Lives in the play castle behind Kneebone Castle
  • Chester: Chester is a black cat with extra toes. We meet him later on in the story.
