“Fun and addictive. Reminds me of Time After Time meets Dracula.”Darryl Galbreath wrote this review yesterday. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“I enjoyed the essence of the book, but found it was not too well written. I would love to read the sequels, but would hope the writing was better. It is about a Professor of the Occult, Simon Cross and his assistant, Elizabeth(Lizzie) West who are looking at a strange watch that Simon inherited from his Grandfather and just as a Lunar Eclipse started, they go back in time about 100 years.”mtafro3 wrote this review 11 days ago. “I quite liked this book. I got it for free on a Kindle deal, so I didn't have high expectations. I knew the vampire thing was coming because I read the on-line reviews. I thought the writing was good and the characters interesting. I noted the parallel themes of Simon and King both reining in their inner beasts was interesting. I give points for keeping the language clean. I had to take off points for a couple of things, though.
1. I wish the author had been more informative about Simon's research into the supernatural, specifically vampires. Simply stating that he was a professor of the "occult" wasn't enough of a foreshadowing to where the story was going. The vampire thing sort of sprang up out of the blue and was a total disconnect from the time travel aspect.
2. I could have lived without the big sex scene. Small rant: It drives me crazy the writers these days equate "love" with "sex." And not just the "they fell into each other's arms and fade to black" sex, but the "hot body fluids and what went where" sex. I just don't need my mind polluted with the verbal porn that ruins an otherwise good book.”
“my ban on vampire books since 1971 has been broken by this book by it's original time travel genre....but vampire was only in it a little so I forgive them....I'm going to read the other 3 sequels of this book...”anniem749 wrote this review Thursday, April 4, 2013. “This might have been interesting if every little thing wasn't described to such detail.. Aghhhh By the time is was explained I forgot was it was that they were describing. I was excited for them to talk about that time period but it was so detailed I kept falling asleep.”Beach Sitter wrote this review Friday, January 18, 2013.
