It tells you stuff like how many RBs on a field and TEs that you never knew before.

Simple, yet entertaining, book. Explains a lot of the game, required player and personnel skills, hints what to look in important situations and more, without patronizing the reader. Won't morph you into a professional, but it may very well open your eyes for the nuances of this awesome game.

Pat knows of what he speaks. The book helps to explain many of the overlooked aspects of the violent, intricate, insanely fast choreography of a football play.

I read the book in just a few days and will be re-reading it piece by piece during the season. There is a lot to absorb.

This is a book more for the current TV fan than the football widow or football novice. He explains much, includes a good glossary (but not great, here's hoping the next edition expands) but still drifts into football geek speak.
