Trey Williams and his military buddy, Jack, had come from "games" where their teams practiced bombing, shooting at other teams, etc., to keep prepared for the covert operations they were often involved in. At the bar they'd spent most of their time, Carly McAfee was working, even though she was the owner. Jack hoped to become part of her life; he loved women and had many conquests. Carly asked a test question he couldn't answer, but his friend, Trey, did - which was fine with Carly because Trey interested her more. Later, though, when both men were called back to the base, Jack found out his brother was in trouble - but Jack wasn't allowed to be part of the rescue team; Trey was.

In setting up the mission to rescue Jimmy (Jack's brother) in Kosovo, it turned out that Carly most fit the needs for Trey's partner, and even though she was a civilian she was okayed because she was needed quickly. Trey was alarmed, partly because of Jack's interest in the woman and partly because both his and Carly's lives would be at risk. The couple they impersonated were newlyweds and their performance had to be believable. Surveillance was a sure thing, on both sides - both audio and visual. And Trey was becoming too absorbed in Carly for his own good, he felt.

The sex scenes were hot and steamy (this was classed as an erotic romance) and Trey was concerned, both because others were watching and because of his friend's wanting this woman - but Trey couldn't stay impersonal; he was too taken by Carly. When the operation was over and Jack was able to stake his claim to Carly, what a surprise!
