Not a very exciting book. The movie was actually better than the book.

With the Kranks only daughter, Blair, in Peru with the Peace Corps, they find themselves not feeling very festive this holiday season. Nora is always thinking about Blair and on the verge of tears, while Luther, an accountant, starts looking into how much money Christmas costs them every year. Luther gets the bright idea to skip Chirstmas this year - no tree, no gifts, no Christmas parties, etc. - and take a cruise instead. They would actually be saving money considering Christmas cost them over $6,000 the previous year. Their friends and neighbors don't take too well to their idea, however, and many hijinks ensue.

This is only the second book I've read by Grisham. I didn't like the first one (The Appeal) at all, but I found this one rather enjoyable. It has everything you want in a light holiday read. It's charming, funny, and manages to get the point of the holiday season across very well. I can see me recommending it to my friends in the future.

Luther & Nora Krank decide to save money and not celebrate Christmas. This is the first time their daughter, Blair, will not be home. They will save money and put some of it toward a cruise. Their friends and neighbors are either annoyed or envious. But all does not turn out as planned.

Nice fun holiday book to get you into the christmas spirit i guess. Allready known Grisham has a great writing style and can tell a story I think this was done as a little fun side project.

I am not normally a John Grisham reader, but was pushed to read this book by the man that I co-teach with. After reading many favorable reviews I decided to pick up the book. I was able to read the book in just a few days time which for me is very fast. The book is a very light read, but is quite enjoyable to read at this time of the year. The book moves quickly which makes it even more fun. Overall, the book is a very light, whimsical and enjoyable story.

The first time I read this book I liked it but I didn't like it. I know real confusing. I thought it was a good read but I saw the movie. The book was good in its own way and the movie was good being a movie. Since it is around the Christmas season I picked the book up for a second time to read and fell in love with it. Yes it may have parts that differ from the movie but it is still a good book. Mostly I think Grisham should stick to courtroom dramas but Skipping Christmas is one of his best non-courtroom dramas books.

This was a cute book. A Christmas story of a family and neighborhood. The movie was just like the book. Easy read
