    This was the first romance novel I read. I was 11 and I read it shortly after it came out and it became one of my all time favorites. I read it again to see if it's stood up to the test of time. It has. Although the heroine did stuff that had me rolling my eyes at times, I laughed just as hard at some parts of the book as I did when I was a girl. Loved it.

    For years, the Montgomerys and Chatworths have been mortal enemies, a feud introduced to us in VELVET PROMISE. But nobody would have thought that a sick prank would turn out to be the best gift that the youngest brother, Miles Montgomery, could have ever received.

    When Elizabeth Chatsworth helped Raine Montgomery's wife escaped the clutches of a sick lord, little did she know that she would find herself taken captive and presented to her enemy Miles Montgomery. But none was more shocked than the receiver himself. Miles couldn't believe his eyes when the carpet unrolls in front of him and out came a naked angel with enough attitude to scare off an entire army.

    All her life, Elizabeth has only met men who tried to take advantage of her. Thus she has learned to defend herself and now faced with the enemy, she expects the worse to happen, not the kindness and patience that Miles has shown her from day one. Astounded, she begins to doubt whether what her brother Roger has told her about the Montgomerys was true at all. And the longer she spends time as his "captive", the more she realizes that Miles is different from the kind of men she has known and slowly loses her heart to him.

    VELVET ANGEL is a fun-filled story providing a great ending to the Velvet series. It was great to learn more about Miles, a man who loves women so much that he cannot stand to see any woman hurt no matter what their status in life is. I liked seeing his relationship with his children and just how good a father he is to them. Seeing how patient he is with Elizabeth, realizing the anger that she has been carrying due to her unhappy life, is one of the things that just endeared him to me. As for Elizabeth, you will admire her courage and her love for children. They truly are the perfect match for each other.

    Filled with entertainment, sensuality and wit, this is a wonderful finish to the saga of the Montgomery brothers. Jude Deveraux proves to us why so many readers have grown to love the Montgomerys. And with the appearance of the couples from the first three books, I guarantee that you will like this and enjoy how the family saga ends.

    Oh, yeah! As in, well, yeah! I so love this book.

    I've known when I read the excerpt/preview of this book that I'll love this. First of all, this is a MONTGOMERY book -- I am quite obssessed with the Montgomery Series by Jude Deveraux. I just can't help it. Second, I saw many nice reviews and high ratings for this book, added to the fact that many of my friends here in Shelfari have added this book to there shelves. Oh well, my personal reasons for being so excited for this book are just so many.

    Velvet Angel, the fourth in the Velvet Series by Jude Deveraux, is certainly the best book in the series. (well, I usually like the last book most in a series)...

    But... I just LOVE Velvet Angel. *heart* Miles *heart* is outrageously handsome ;) , devilishly amusing :D , and captivatingly tender-hearted *heart* . Not the coward tender-hearted that some may stupidly think but the kindness and pureness of a person which I simply adore. Elizabeth is also angelicaly beautiful and amazingly brave. Miles and Elizabeth are perfect for each other. Just perfect. haha..

    And, what's so lovely about this last book is that I again met the other characters in the previous books in the Velvet Series (The Velvet Promise, Higland Velvet, and Velvet Song). I didn't realize how much I missed them until I encountered them again.

    And oh, how funny this book is. I mean, I just couldn't help but giggle because the characters are just so delightfully familiar. And the end of the book (Chapter 21) --- haha! The best...! I can just imagine everyone.... having and doing this and that... Oh my, I'll surely miss them all.

    Anyway, I am so happy that I read this book (and also all the other books preceding this in the Montgomery family series -- the "In the Beginning" Series)

    Recommended Books by Jude Deveraux:

    ~~THE MONTGOMERY SERIES, of course!!!
    1. In the Beginning
    ==] The Black Lyon
    ==] The Maiden

    2. Velvet Series
    ==] The Velvet Promise
    ==] Higland Velvet
    ==] Velvet Song
    ==]*VELVET ANGEL

    ~~Single Novels and Anthologies by Jude Deveraux (there are just so many!)
    ~~Taggert Series
    ~~The Peregrine Family
    ~~James River Saga

    I hope you enjoy reading this book. Note that you may not enjoy it fully if you haven't read the other previous books because this is part of a series. (d'oh! XD)

    I would marry Miles Montgomery. I make up music videos in my head to "Holding out for a Hero" starring him. Enough said.

    when i browsed the first pages of this book in a bookstore, i was immediately hooked. the description of miles and his first encounter with elizabeth was simply electrifying.

    i immensely enjoyed the tenderly funny scenes in this book, especially when the other montgomery brothers showed up. it had a good and intriguing plot and a fitting end. both miles and elizabeth are strong characters. but i felt that miles is a touch too proud....but, maybe thats just me ",)

    anyway this was a nice read. probably not one of ms. deveraux's best, but satisfying anyway.

    miles' character was very amusing...he is the complete opposite of the heroes that i'm accustomed to reading about in books that are in the medieval era...but the change was welcomed...

    elizabeth's character was really the same kind for every heroine that i've seen, but the effect has never died down for me....it's always comforting to find women who are such fighters and in my opinion, i wouldn't have any other kind to read about....

    the story itself was a very fun one to read. you could actually feel what was going to come even as you only read the synopsis...and the fact that it's the last of the series for the four brothers, well...it was a good way to conclude it...
