Liked It“I started to meet the private eye Kinsey Millhone with this novel. She is a very curious detective, a former police officer, who now works in Santa Teresa, CA. I found it an absolutely entertaining ride into murder's mystery. |
“Story moved along slowly - lots of useless narrative”

From now on, when I want to relax, I prepare my slippers, put my feet up, turn my hi-fi on with fado's songs and, of course, I grab a Benn&Jerrys Fudge Brownie or any comfort food. Yummie!! You know you will get the best of detective's fiction!”
“formula writing, yes, but well-developed character, smooth dialogue. ”

“Kinsey gets a call from Fiona. She is Dr. Purcell’s ex-wife and is concerned that he has been missing for nine weeks. Fiona believes he ran-away from Crystal his present wife. Everyone has their own idea of what had happened to Dr. Purcell but no facts. Kinsey finds herself in danger but continues until the mystery is solved. You will like the intrigue of this book. By Ruth Thompson author of “The Bluegrass Dream” and ”Natchez Above The River””

In the midst of searching for new office space, she meets brothers who she finds out have off-ed their parents. Funny and fun as usual.”

The list of suspects is long, and includes his current wife. At the same time, the landlord of her new office seems sexy and intriguing, but there are other layers to his personality, and that of his brother. Kinsey is given more background on the two by an elusive and annoying insurance investigator, and her life then becomes complicated as she attempts to sort that issue as well. I listened to this book that I had read years ago, and it was mildly entertaining. The beginning is slow as she searches for Purcell, and several of the characters are irritating, especially the snobby woman who has hired her. I love this series and have read several more than once, but I'll pass on this one again.”
