Engaging read, but I felt like the clues never lead to the solution. I knew all along whodunnit, but because of the basic set-up rather than the clues laid out. So, enjoyable, but not up to the level of her better ones.

At this time, I've read from A to Q but that was several years ago. I recently picked up N for a light re-read and to pick up the series again.

It's not a stand out book in the series as it takes a break from delving into Kinsey's personal life but remains a fun read for following along with her amusing take on life and ways of reacting to everyone.

While I enjoyed this book in the alphabet series, I didn't think it was as good as some of the Kinsey Millhone mysteries have been. Perhaps it was that she showed more "human-ness" (is that a word?) than she usually does. I guess I think of her as pretty tough and not like the rest of us. Anyway, the mystery part was good, even though I figured out who done it which I don't usually do. I read mysteries to be entertained, not to work my brain!

Less violence and more emphasis on character in this one. Thoroughly spellbinding. Don't miss any of them.

Kinsey is investigating the death of a Sherriff’s investigator Tom Newquist, whose widow believes he was under undue stress at the time of his passing. She wants to know who, what, and why. Kinsey gets some hard knocks along the way and maybe Mrs. Newquist would have been better off not knowing?

Nice of Kinsey help Dietz after his knee surgery...not too crazy about the town of Nota Lake where she tackles a case on her way home!
