Investigator Kinsey Millhone seems doomed whenever she agrees to a favor. She agrees to be in a wedding and ends up having to wear a flowered muumuu. She agrees to help an acquaintance of her landlord and ends up in another state posing as a hotel maid in order to retrieve a stolen duffel bag. She agrees to go as far as Nashville, TN, and is faced with the business end of a gun. What's a girl to do when someone says, "please"?
I always enjoy an afternoon with Kinsey, though this book struck me as a little more humorous than some of the others I've read recently. Her odd crush on her landlord is mildly weird and yet endearing, and it's always entertaining to see her thinking on her feet. The ending kind of sucked considering everything she'd been through, but maybe karma will be kind to her in the future.
*This is a bit more "genre" than what I usually lump into the contemporary fiction bucket, but since it was already tagged as such, here it be.

One of her quirky books, fast-paced plot and anti-climactic ending.

Henry, Kinsey’s landlord needs some help and she is willing to help. All she needs to do is help him around some government red tape. Of course it doesn’t happen. Kinsey finds that things are not what they seem. She finds herself in all kinds of danger. Enjoy Kinsey’s adventure in solving an old crime. By Ruth Thompson author of “The Blue Grass Dream” and “Natchez Above The River.”

Kinsey Millhone shocks by getting involved with lowlifes and actually (gasp!) helping them recover a pile of stolen loot, getting beat up in the process. Why she does this, I can’t figure out, but, hell the story’s fun and Kinsey’s her ever grumpy, critical self. Meet Roy Rossen, and daughter Laura, Bucky and Chester Lee.

A fast paced, good read written by someone absolutely in control of her chosen genre. Full of character and description which instantly gave atmosphere. Surprisingly enjoyable read.

The ending of this book was unsatisfying to me...hopefully, Sue will tie up some of the loose ends in her next book? All in all, I am LOVING this series!

Sue Grafton novels are always entertaining. This one is no exception. Kinsie hads across the country again to help out a friend of her favorite landlord.
