Really good. I'd hate to be in Mark's shoes. I loved the fact that he was able to weave in alot of view points into the book.

John Grisham's books, whilst marketed as legal thrillers, actually contain none of the stuffy long legalese or courtroom passages you might expect. "The Client" is the story of an unfortunate boy named Mark Sway, who encounters a drunk lawyer called Jerome Clifford on the verge of killing himself whilst sneaking into the woods to smoke cigarettes. Before he commits suicide, Clifford passes onto Mark a deadly secret that has been tormenting United States Attorney Roy Foltrigg and Mafia assassin and flashy thug Barry Muldanno for months: the location of the body of a dead Senator. The FBI wants Mark to tell; the Mafia wants him to stay quiet. Both sides throw all their muscle into getting the outcome they want. And Mark, in an unenviable position, only has his guts and a feisty children's aid lawyer called Reggie Love to help him survive.

Another great character development. Seems like the reader is watching real people. Probably one of Grisham's more interesting plots, though it appears at first a bit low-key. He typically crescendos at an accellerating pace in the second half.

A very interesting turn of events for such a young kid. Always something feared but never brought to life for good reasons. A very maternally strong case for justice. A recommended read for 13 and up.
