It was not an easy read. The story is good but the dialect is difficult to understand. I had already seen the movie before I read the book, so I wasn't surprised by anything. I can also see how so many people (after reading this book) are inspired by Janie.

I read this book last year and it was really hard to get into because of the dialect.

The dialect is very difficult if you are not used to reading African-American literature. On the other hand, it is a very easy to understand book once you get past that point and it's a story that stays with you forever.

I am rereading this book and I must say that it inspires every time I pick it up. After my first reading, I immediately mailed it to one of my girlfriends; I needed to share the joy I received from such a moving story.

As an avid reader and a collector of books I sometimes really want to read a specific book however "So many books, So little time. My question: If you were promised a 6 figure non-taxable amount of money to make me read this book what would you tell me about it to gage my interest in moving it up on my TRL?

We have just turned the mass grave site in West Palm, the site where many from the storm were buried into a memorial Park, it nearbour was turned into commercial property.
Actually, her dialect is a distraction for me, but her story is so powerful i get through it. Zora forever!!! She is a cautionary tale though, of how obscure one can become after a period of fame. i am sure her gender/race status at the time contributed to that, though. i hope those days are past, or very nearly so.
