Bryce Courtenay wrote a follow-up to The Power of One using a young black girl as the main character. It seemed to me the idea was good but he didn't really have a story for Tandia. She spends most the book crying. The deeper a person gets into the book, the more it becomes Pekay's story, and that part was 100% enjoyable. The ending surprised me. One of my favourite writers.

Brye Courtenay's Tandia is a follow up from The Power of One. It all started when Tandia's Parent's died to due a certain tragic incident. And from then on, she has to live on her own. She must survive all the harsh times whether that it was that she was arrested by the police making a lifelong enemy, Jannie Geldenhuis, or when she was desperately trying to find someone who would adopt her. And after that, she met Peekay and Hymie who were the only people she can trust. Also, soon, she developed a special relationship between her and Peekay. However, there were also consequences that she must face.

I would really recommend this book to historical fiction lovers. This is because it is SUPER fun! However, this is a warning for people who hate violence between there are some really cruel scenes in this book so, just be aware of that before you read this book! And other than that, ENJOY!

This is a sequel to The Power of One, but I don't like it as much. Tandia is equally powerful but very violent and political. Pretty intense. I recommend it to anyone who wants to follow Peekay's story from The Power of One.

Bryce Courtenay is Australia's most popular and best selling author so his books must very well written, symbolic, and interesting. Tandia was written about the Apartheid in South Africa between 1948 and 1993. South Africa was ruled by white people and it was a time of racial segregation. Tandia, a half Indian, half African girl is raped by the police at the age of 16. Due to her fear of the white men, she joins the black resistance movement. It would be very interesting to read about the black resistance movement and learn more about South Africa and its culture.

Some didn't like this sequel to 'The Power of One'. I did. The switch in narrative point-of-view was a worthwhile idea.
