I got the feeling this book was dictated into a recorder and the thoughts were typed into book form. It doesn't flow like a book should and there seem to be random and contridicting thoughts in it.

For those of us who watched Hip Hip become the groundbreaking, trend setting, multi-billion dollar phenomenon that it is today, one could arguably say that Russell Simmons helped pioneer the movement. Russell Simmons' story is an inspiration to anyone who dares to believe that they can achieve their wildest dreams. Mr. Simmons doesn't reveal any new concepts, secrets or strategies for becoming successful. Instead, he shows you how he applied 12 tried and true philosophies to become one of the most successful music moguls and entrepreneurs in the world. With his unique blend of business savvy, "street smarts," and a sense of purpose, Do You! illustrates how insight, hard work and perseverance can catapult you to heights you never dreamed imaginable.

Some may think this is cheating, but I listened to the audiobook. I felt the content meant more to me hearing Chris and Russell's voice versus reading it myself. This book is motivating and inspiring. It made me kiss my laziness goodbye and gave me self-confidence and wisdom.

I liked this book alot and I thought it was cool to know about some of my favorite hip hop stars and the community service they do. It shows a different side to hip hop and I generally find Russel Simmons interesting. Even if I dont agree with all that he says, I think Russel Simmons is one of the most intriguing human beings. This book is about positivity and happiness with a hip hop twist.

What I really like about this book is the fact that Russell won't sit there and beat you over the head with his theories. Naw, he'll just explain why he does what he believe in and goes with it. He has done things I can agree with, some I cannot, but I respect the fact that if you feel a way towards something, then go with it, and that is what Russell is doing each and every day. I like the fact that he took a concept and ran with it. Hip hop that is. I don't think it's dead yet though. Then he ran a clothing chain. That was interesting how he did it. he spoke of losing plenty money before it became the success it is now, but at least, he can go to bed feeling that he gave it his best shot. I really gained a lot out of reading this book. And I highly recommend it because at least once you get done reading, you can feel you can do something good as well.
