This book is called The Danger Box by Blue Balliett. There is this boy, 12 years old, his name is Zoomy. He is legally blind and, with glasses on, he can only see as long as his arm. He must solve the mystery of an old notebook with Lorrol, a girl who is Zoomy's best friend, she helps him solve the mystery of Charles Darwin. One of the parts was, He went to the tool shed in the dark with the danger box and there was this car that pulled up and there was this big explosion. At the end, Zoomy got a letter that was in a secret writing from the Darwin family, he had to use the code he made to figure it out. The letter said that they would like to publish his story in a book that is sold around the world, and all the money goes to them.
