“I'm a big fan of Simon Green. His earlier novels helped me through the drudgery and insanity of my time in the military oh so many years ago. So, with baited breath, I look forward to any new series he puts out.
Sadly, the Ghost Finders series is off to a rocky start with this first installment. I hope things will smooth out as the storyline progresses with the future novels. But, as of now, it holds last place on the long list of Green's many series.
Don't get me wrong. The characters are engaging and the dialogue is amusing ( even though a bit of it is recycled from other novels. ). However the plot progression seems a bit forced and choppy. Also, some of the actions of certain characters seems a bit odd ... even for individuals who hunt ghosts for a living.
I give it three stars because there is no 1/2 points here. If given that choice; I'd go with a 2 1/2. I didn't dislike the book. But I'm pained to say that I actually liked it.”
