  • Katniss Everdeen: The main character of the Hunger Games trilogy. Lives with her mother and sister in District 12, Katniss is left to provide from her family after her father is killed in a coal-mining accident. She hunts to gain food for her family with her bow and arrow her father made.
  • Peeta Mellark: A boy that has fallen deeply in love with Katniss, he is competing against Katniss in the games. Comes from District 12 as well, the bakers son, and a gentle boy who only dreams of living happily with Katniss, but impossible because of the only One victor rule.
  • Gale: Katniss Everdeen's best friend who also lives in the Seam. They are often mistaken for brother and sister because of their similarity in appearance.
  • Cinna: Katniss' stylist. He is a good friend and confidant.
  • Coin: This contains spoilers. If you have not read Mockingjay, don't read this.
  • Haymitch: Katniss and Peeta's mentor for the Hunger Games. He is an alcoholic. He won the Hunger Games in the second Quarter Quell.
  • Snow: Do not read this if you haven't read Catching Fire.
  • Prim: Katniss' little sister.
  • Rue: An dark-skinned girl who Katniss gets attached to while in the Hunger Games. Rue reminds Katniss of Prim.Is killed soon in the hunger games,but Katniss avenges her death quickly.

  • Effie Trinket: District 12 escort for the Hunger Games.
