Three and a half stars... Maybe four. The subject matter was interesting, but it reminded me of the "Uglies" series. I don't know which was written first, so possibly it was the other way around. But a lot of the things seemed extremely similar, even down to the love triangle. It just seemed odd. Like there was a childhood story told and I read one telling at one time and then just read a retelling of the same story. I haven't read much dystopian fiction however so it is possible that the similarities I perceived were just similarities that are common to the genre. Anyhow, it was pretty well written and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough towards the end when things started getting interesting. I liked that there wasn't a lot of "oh, look at how amazing this rock is" type of talk going on. There were a few occasions when something similar happened but luckily the author didn't dwell upon it. Already ordering the second in the series.
