a very lovely and engaging love story. i read most of it in one sitting. it's composed of keenly-writ individual essays of personal stories ending with a related recipe.

i love that there's often no clear distinction between shauna and danny's voices. you might start reading shauna's words, but then danny may jump seamlessly in and out - much like if you were simply in a room having a conversation with them both. truly a well-written portrayal of love. i find myself wishing to read beyond where this book ends.

oh and the recipes! the asian pear tart is stunning perfection. do allow me to say it again: stunning perfection. the waffles are better than any other homemade or prepackaged variety, full stop. the black bean soup, braised oxtails, smoked salted caramel ice cream....all the recipes are diamonds.

for the romantics, foodies, gluten-frees and gluten-free-nots alike.
