My opinion about Christian non-fiction changed for the better when I read this book. Brent Curtis and John Eldredge present a compelling and often moving study of our relationship with Jesus Christ as Christians.

It's about God loving us and valuing our heart. The heart is where we live inside ourselves and should not be ignored.

A little touchy-feeling and at times flowery to the point of idiocy, but the sentiments truly are novel and inspirational. When used as a devotional, devoid of literary critique, it is a very moving and convicting piece.

Another book I started last night for another group! I've only read the first chapter, but once again, I was hooked from the first words. Curtis and Eldredge contend that most of us have divorced ourselves from our heart and are thus missing the full richness of experience in our relationship with Jesus. Our heart cries out for adventure and passion, but we, as "good Christians" try to muffle that through discipline and busyness feeling that somehow our passionate longings are the quiverings of the old man that should have died when we were reborn, when in reality it is the cry of our reborn heart that longs to be fully alive in Jesus.
