Greg Heffley is entering middle school. He has the same fears, humiliations and insecurities that we all did upon being in the 6th grade. Middle School is a game of survival and you've got to find your way to make it through. Here you are thrown in a school along with kids 2 years older than you who could eat you for lunch. Not only do you have to deal with your peers but also your parents who are out to thwart any chance you have of being the cool kid. Greg tells his story of that first year in a diary filled with comics and comedy.
I laughed while reading this. The situations Greg finds himself in reminded me so much of when I was young. Nothing ever worked out the way I wanted and always seemed to backfire on me. My parents or other siblings never understood what was so important. The author does an excellent job of capturing the mind set of children and their logic of the age. Looking at the world through their eyes and how important such small things are then.”
