Arrietty Clock: 13 year-old protagonist who is 7-inches tall. She lives in a great house with her family, but all she wants in this world is to explore.
Pod Clock: Arrietty's father. Teaches Arrietty how to Borrow.
Homily Clock: Arriety's mother. Is a great cook.
Mrs. Driver: Housekeeper.
Kate: A young girl who listens to the story of the Borrowers
Crampfurl: Groundskeeper
Great-aunt Sophy: An invalid who spends all of her time in bed. She sees the Borrowers but believes she is imagining them.
Uncle Hendreary: He leaves the great house to explore the world.
Mrs. May: The sister of the boy who claims to have actually seen the Borrowers, and the one who tells the story of them to Kate.

Eggletina: One of the borrowers from another family.
