“Have you ever met an intelligent woman, who carries herself with dignity and class, and who seemingly has it all but one piece of the puzzle – a man by her side? In Farther Than I Meant To Go, this woman is Charmayne Ellis, a successful banking executive who allows her impatience and insecurity with her appearance to alter her decision-making when it comes to Travis Moon. Travis is the polar opposite of Charmayne. However, the two still find themselves in a whirlwind romance.
This is the classic story of a woman settling and not listening to her inner spirit. Charmayne, being an active church member, deals with issues of spirituality and desperation in this novel. Supporting characters Travis, Lynette, First Lady Jenkins, Dr. King, Dayna and Charmayne’s mother, offer readers a glimpse into and will cause them to evaluate how the people in Charmayne’s life actions may have directly, or indirectly, influenced Charmayne’s decisions. Pressure from friends to hurry and marry, to familial strains and being deceived, Charmayne grapples with relying on her faith for all the answers she needs.
This book did begin at a slower pace than my preference but midway through I became thoroughly engaged in Charmayne’s story, yearning to know how she would rise again or even if she would. There are a lot of good lessons in this selection and I recommend this book to all women who feel like they have waited long enough. Patience is a virtue. You definitely do not want to go farther than you mean to or stay longer than you want to when it’s something or someone not good for you.

“While I did enjoy reading this book, I was not fond of how the author jumped between the past and present constantly. However, the characters were all relatable. The story sheds light on the importance of relying on the Holy Spirit to guide us in all areas of our lives-including relationships. It also provides a portrait of forgiveness and God's ability to restore.”

Travis is not the man God wants for her; Charmayne ignores advice and marries him. It was her own inability to trust God enough to wait on His best for her life that led to her destruction in the book.

“Charmayne Ellis is everything that a lot of people would like to be. Attractive, intelligent, kind hearted, a Christian with a good job.
Charmayne is tired of everyone thinking that she needs a man in her life in order to be complete. Although, she's overweight, she still feels like she should have a man of her choosing. Not that she needs a man to be complete, some companionship would be nice.
The pastor's wife along with her best friend, keep trying to set her up. The men they select are either rejects or haven't had a date in years. They lack in personality, are too old, or just downright ugly. Both, her mother and sister believe that she's a hopeless case, sprouting that, in order to be considered somebody YOU must be married.
Without anyone's assistance, Charmayne meets Travis Moon, a fine, Christian, single, working brother. He's employed at the bank Charmayne manages. At first, she was skeptical about accepting a lunch date because of their working environment, but Charmayne decides against that. Now happy, people are looking at her, as if she has to BUY Travis.
Seeking prayer and guidance from God, Charmayne has asked if Travis is the man for her. God has answered her prayers and she has accepted what the Lord has said but, is she hearing correctly? Are the signs for a GO to marry this strong willed man of God, or to let him go?
Farther Than I meant To Go, Longer Than I Meant To Stay, is a very good book! I highly recommend!!!”

Here is yet another book that shows what can happen when a daughter misses her fathers love. He teaches her how she should be love and treated by a man. When that is missing your fall for the lies even when others are trying to tell you to open your eyes and pay attention.
She didn't have that and fell for the slickster.
I recommend this book...Fathers affirm your daughters!!”

Has a great job, her own house, into the Lord, yet she's a big sista, and she has NO man. On top of that, she feels some sibling rivalry and no love from her momma. Enter the man. He looks good, acts and smells good, but is he all he's cracked up to be? hmm. Get a copy and keep on with this. ”

It's witty but so true of real life situations. To date I've enjoyed both novels by this author. If you haven't read Farther than I meant to go........and What a Sista Should Do, I suggest you order your copy TODAY!”
