“Overall, I thought it was a rather good book. The language is really confusing, but you can easily find translations for the strange slang the author used. And through the book you start to memorize what they mean anyways, so it's really not that hard. But I'm still glad I saw the movie first, because I might have been completely lost... the movie stayed pretty close to the book. Missing a few details, and cut out the final chapter, but that's expected with book-to-movie adaptions.
But more about the book, it's pretty surreal... and kind of subtle about what Alex and his friends are actually doing, mostly because of the language, but if you pay close attention you'll realize "... Oh wow... They're assaulting that person." Haha. So, it's pretty weird in that way. But in the end, the morality of the main character take a turn to good, so it isn't bleak all the way through.”
