Not only that, but when we meet Kyle (aka the Beast) he's living in modern day New York City, perfect...” see full review » see other reviews » |

Several times, he said things about Lindy that made me uncomfortable. He acted like a stalker! Also, a bunch of times in the book he IMed a support group for people who had...” see full review » see other reviews » |
“I read this to Emily, didn't want to put it down at times and we finished fast, it's a spin on Beauty and the Beast.”

Don't get discouraged at the beginning; I know its dry and the main character is a brat, but it gets better, I promise. The only things I found disappointing were the beginning and the little "chat room" pages that the author threw in between chapters. The story didn't benefit from them at all, and they were mostly just annoying. After a while I didn't even bother to read them. Maybe the author wanted to use them to tie in this book to more in a series? In any case, the rest of the book was wonderful. The characters were lovable and the story was gripping. I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes teen romances or fairy tale retellings.”

I felt like Lindy didn't come into the book until about halfway through. Kyle/Adrian was an actual beast complete with hair, fangs and claws. He had a magic mirror like in the original fairy tale that could see anyone he wanted to. One thing I didn't like was that Kendra, the witch, was actually Magda, the maid. I don't think I will read this book again, but I will definitely watch the movie. ”

When he tries to humiliate an 'ugly' in front of the whole school, she turns out to be a beautiful witch who turns him into his 'truer self'- a beast, and he has 2 years to find true love or else he will be stuck how he is forever. ”

Granted, the premise is quite good, modernize the Beauty and the Beast fairytale. I do like Kendra the witch, and the characters, especially Will the blind tutor. The story itself is good, but if you compare it to how it got transformed visually in the movie, it doesn't quite seem to compare.
I did not like the whole chat room egroup thing throughout the book with the other transformed beings, it was a lot of noise and didn't really add much to the story. It's almost like it's trying really hard to be "hip".
