  • Garland Maddigan: Tightrope walking twelve year old. She is a member of Maddigan's Fantasia, a circus created by her great grandmother. She travels with the circus and must come to grips with changes in her life.
  • Maddie Maddigan: Garland's mother. Leader of Maddigan's Fantasia once Garland's father dies.
  • Timon: Eldest brother of the time-traveling trio. He struggles with the responsibility of caring for his younger siblings and trying to change history.
  • Eden: Timon's younger brother. Eden can perform magic but finds it physically exhausting.
  • Jewel: Timon and Eden's baby sister.
  • Fergy: Garland's father
  • Yves: Initially Fergy's right-hand man. He steps in to help Maddie run the circus when Fergy is killed.
  • Lilith: Yves's daughter. She is ten, and Garland finds her hopelessly childish and annoying.
  • Boomer: Eleven year old drummer for the circus band. His prize possessions are his drum and his motorcycle. He becomes good friends with Timon and Eden, but especially Eden.
  • Gabrielle Maddigan: Founder of Maddigan's Fantasia and Garland's great grandmother.
  • The Nennog: The evil ruler of Timon and Eden's future Solis. He is their great-great-uncle and originated as the Duke of Solis prior to becoming twisted by mutation and growing evil.
