book begins in fictional back woods farming hamlet of Back Flats in Elk County Pennsylvania in 1930, with primary setting surrounding the fictional towering mountain called Suicide Cap.
Part 2 begins in an unnamed rural area of Somerset Count Pennsylvania 60 years later, and culminates atop Suicide Cap in Elk County Pennsylvania.

James O'Mara quietly makes his way to his sons' bedroom in their small farm house to wake the boy from his slumber.
Glossary edit
- Hover Plane: A small light weight aircraft capable of taking off and landing vertically without a runway, yet able to fly like a normal airplane.
- Flintlock: Longrifle: Old style long barreled rifles dating from the 1500 to early 1800 time periods, that must have a single powder charge and round ball bullet rammed down the barrel, and ignited by a small powder charge in a side pan, ignited by a peice of flint. Type of firearms used by the likes of Daniel Boone, Davy Crocket and the early days of the United States and prior.
