Didn’t Like It“This book has some nice illustrations, but to actually *read* it... No. I watch Project Runway, who doesn't. This book seems to be for true fashion carnivores, who would read anything fashion. For the average joe, this book is painfully boring. Sorry! She really knows what she is talking about and how she judges based on what is out there in the market. The book was awesome because it had illustrations so it made it more fun to imagine the setting of "The Devil Wears Prada" and the miranda prestely type characters. I also liked the section where Nina did the Q&A with other well-known celebrity designers and they gave their insight and experience. Since I lost a significant amount of weight, i have regained my confidence and will start to pay more attention to style and I know this book was a great help! Can't wait to read Nina's "100 things you must own!" soon!”

This book proves that not only does she have a right to take a designer to task, she's actually an intelligent, charming, funny woman who has thought a lot about her chosen field. She peppers the book with great quotes about style and fashion fun facts (did you know diamonds used to be worn only by men until a mistress of a French king decided to go for the shocking androgyny look), and while many a style-writer talks about how style comes from within, Nina actually gives suggestions as to how to be daring, really arguing that the truly stylish are the ones who fly against the rules of fashion and the advice given by most style manuals (the What Not to Wear ladies would not doubt be shocked at what Garcia finds intriguing and beautiful). She went from my least favorite character on PR to my favorite after I read this book. Any fans of the show, or anyone thinking about style in ANY medium, should give it a read.”

Good thing Nina Garcia came up with a book that will guide ladies out there! I love the part where she had Q&A with top designers! This book is a must-have!”
