Although I read this book for a class in educational philosophy, I find that its meaning applies to solid relationships. When people treat each other as a Thou, they are on the road to success. I've been know to buy this book for couples pondering marriage.

An intellectually and morally transformative work. I liked it when I read it. I thought he gave me a lot to think about. In the years since I have realized that Buber has completely changed the way I think, not just about people but how I think. Buber emphasizes dialogue because dialogue is an exchange among equals. I talk with you, I don't talk with "it." A book to be re-read and re-read again.

I will finish this book. Whether I understand it or not is another matter entirely. But I will finish it.

Its hard to rate this book. It is a book that defined 20th century thought and still does now. Not an easy read because it is so densely poetic in style. Everyone should tackle it!

Reading Walter Kaufmann's brilliant critical edition, gave me an almost ecsatatic experience. I think Buber has done us a great service. As a Sufi observation goes, Man is a dog , a pig and a sage. We hear the dog and pig loud and clear often enough...on the media. It is time to hear the soft voice of the Sage, like Buber.

Dialog. Encounter. So much hinges on people talking to other people.
