Which "Z" character came first - Kenyon's or Ward's? Is it just me, or do they seem to be made from the same cloth? I love them both, but the resemblance was striking to me.
It's been said that Kenyon's work was inspiration for Ward's BBD work. I don't know if that's true, but the similarities are there. However that can be true of many authors who are inspired by books they read. For example, Anne Rice started a craze with vampires that began with Bram Stoker. Christine Feehan followed through with her Carpathian series. Yet each writer's own voice came through to create her own special characters and stories. As for which came first, I'm fairly certain that Kenyon's Z came first.
Thanks for your reply, Monica. As you said, despite similarities, each writer's voice comes through. I enjoy the books of both authors.
I enjoy Ward's style of writing, but can never get into Kenyon's. I love Z of the BDB, and I think you are referring to Zarek (?) in Kenyon's DH books...which unfortunately I have not read it all...just a few books in the series..and didn't enjoy the writing style... So I guess, whether they sort of inspired each other, each writer still has their own unique way of presenting their heroes.
For all of you BDB fans out there there is a new group in town. Its called Ŧhe Fąde.
You should all check it out ;)
Personally, this one was my favorite book so far. The others seem too similar to each other. Z was someone different, with real problems and real reasons for those. Much different from the others.
It was the best book out of all of them so far. I mean i love the first one but this was too much. i just loovveee it!!
My favourite character is Z. Loved the way he developed.
The first book and this book were great. I am least fond of Phury for some reason.
I think Phury is irritating because he is butting in. Because I find myself scowling when he enters the books and tries to but in on Bella and Z.
