It's been said that Kenyon's work was inspiration for Ward's BBD work. I don't know if that's true, but the similarities are there. However that can be true of many authors who are inspired by books they read. For example, Anne Rice started a craze with vampires that began with Bram Stoker. Christine Feehan followed through with her Carpathian series. Yet each writer's own voice came through to create her own special characters and stories. As for which came first, I'm fairly certain that Kenyon's Z came first.

Which "Z" character came first - Kenyon's or Ward's? Is it just me, or do they seem to be made from the same cloth? I love them both, but the resemblance was striking to me.
