Rhage is a vampire who has gotten on the Scribe Virgin's bad side and is now cursed by her. Whenever he gets angry and loses control, he turns into a life destroying dragon. He fears that he is a danger to anyone who is closed by him. Mary is a survivor of cancer and soon learns that her deadly disease is back. She is not looking for love but trying to survive. Mary and Rhage soon meet and they come to realize how much they depend on each other.
This is the second book in The Black Dagger Brotherhood and I enjoyed it tremendously. I wish I could compare it to the first book but for the life of me I cannot remember what Dark Lover was about (I even gave it 5 stars). Ward has a gift for story telling and kept me turning the pages. I would have given it a higher rating if it weren't for the fact that I was sickened that Rhage slept with a woman right before sleeping with Mary. ”
